Agra is a city known for its historic monuments, located in one of the state of India - Uttar Pradesh. It is situated on the bank of river Yamuna. According to Hindu mythology it is among one of the holy & sacred river which is worshipped by the Hindus.



Weather



The weather of Agra is extreme just like the weather in Northern parts of India. The summers in Agra are from April to July and the mercury rises up to 46 degree Celsius. You can say that it is really tough to bear the scorching heat of Agra. Rainy season start from mid of July and ends till September. The winters are also very cold but it is the best time to visit Agra.



How to reach Agra



Agra is a well connected city in terms of transportation. There are various means of transport available that includes Airways, Railways, Roadways, Local Transport, etc. Agra has its own domestic airport which is just 5Km away from the city. Kheria airport is connected with major airports of India. If we talk about Railways then there are many trains which run daily from all the main cities. The major trains like Rajdhani Express, Shatabadi Express are also on the route. Apart from this there are many deluxe buses which run to and from Agra on daily basis.




Places to Visit



There are numerous places to visit in Agra. Among all the various places like Fatehpur Sikri, Humayun’s Tomb, RamBagh, Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, the best one is Taj Mahal. Agra is also known as Taj City. It is a mausoleum built by the Mughal Emperor in the memory of his beloved wife. It is marble structure situated on the bank of river Yamuna.



Shopping



If you love to shop then Agra has lots of things to shop. It is famous for souvenirs made of marble. Apart from this it is also famous for handicrafts item, decorative pieces, stone carved images, etc. You will find various handicrafts emporium in the city. The main markets from which you can buy all these items are Sadar Bazar, Kinari Bazar, Raja Ki Mandi, Meena Bazar, etc. Another thing for which the city is famous is "Agra Ka Petha", a delicious sweet prepared from raw pumpkin. So if you plan to visit buy this sweet it lasts for more than a month.



Indeed Agra is a place one should visit. Prefer visiting the city in winters so that you can enjoy and make your visit memorable.
